I loved to make paper boats as a kid. My friends and I would sail them in huge laundry tubs, street gutters and puddles, and when possible even have boat races with other kids. Now, a group of Taiwanese students is proving that paper boats are good for more than just a delightful pastime.
The 'Hope Offer' foldable paper boats are infused with a plant-based insect repellent that kills mosquito larva in water. Designed by a team of six students from National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), the project was aimed at helping to eradicate disease-carrying mosquitoes in underdeveloped countries.
