Aerial photos of Spain that look like abstract paintings

David Maisel is a California-based photographer who takes magnificent aerial and landscape photographs. In his latest body of work titled The Fall, David shows us the environment of Spain from above and challenges our notions of beauty and toxicity. The stunning images, which were shot in various locations between Toledo and Madrid, "show zones of agriculture, mining, and abandoned urban development that appear otherworldly and alien, as though an archaeologist had unearthed a hidden civilization from the past."

The Fall is on view through March 12 at Haines Gallery in San Francisco.
