If you happen to be strolling along the Gold Coast's Currumbin Beach between September 11 and 20, then you won't miss the thought-provoking sculptures built by Australian and international artists as part of the 13th annual Swell Sculpture Festival. This year features over fifty impressive works including a lion made from galvanized aviary wire, a dragon made from chains and a giant inflatable, glow-in-the-dark squid. The free outdoor art exhibit is open all hours, with a selection of sculptures revealing a new verve as they are lit up under the southern sky.
To say that I love Sanagi 's work is an understatement. Looking at her art feels sort of therapeutic, and I find her drawings refreshingly intricate. They're trippy, psychedelic, and resemble something that you might see under a microscope. Not much is Googleable about Sanagi, but that's fine. There aren't many artists these days that still pull off the whole mysterious vibe, so I commend her for that. By the way... they're all hand-drawn with pen and ink.
