Dad creates replica of Optimus Prime out of discarded cardboard


Repurposing found objects into art isn't a new idea, but I am thoroughly fascinated by this Optimus Prime model made from discarded cardboard. The Transformers franchise is very popular in China, so Xu Ou built the awesome 2.8-meter-tall sculpture as a Chinese New Year's gift for his son. The 35-year-old father and his friend spent about twenty days to put the Optimus Prime replica together, using 1,000 kilograms of boxes that had once been used as packaging for electronics.
