Lucy McRae: Body Architect at NGV Australia

When you hear the name Lucy McRae, the strange anatomical forms and weird adornments of her subjects come to mind. These multimedia art pieces are visually stimulating, but they often end up disturbing the viewer's  mind.

Lucy, who calls herself a "body architect", produces short films and images that raise questions about what it means to be human and what is it that makes us human. As former ballerina, interior designer and architect, Lucy effectively blurs the lines between fashion, design, art, architecture and science. If you happen to be in Melbourne, check out the first survey exhibition of Lucy's provocative and beguiling work, Lucy McRae: Body Architect. The show runs until February 9, 2020 at the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia at Federation Square. The best part? Admission is free.

Taika Waititi's latest film is called Jojo Rabbit , a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis) who just so happens to have an imaginary friend in the form of Adolf Hitler (Waititi). But Jojo's beliefs are tested when he discovers that his hot mom (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding an equally attractive Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Guided only by the Führer, Jojo must confront his blind patriotism. Based upon the book Caging Skies by Christine Leunens, Jojo Rabbit opens in theaters October 18th.

McDonald's unveils bike-friendly takeout packaging

Ad firm Tribal Buenos Aires in Argentina has designed a new disposable takeout packaging for McDonald's that's made to hang from bicycle handlebars. Dubbed "McBike," the carrier is made out of cardboard and holds a burger, fries and drink. It was first introduced in Denmark, and then in Colombia. McDonald's aims to roll this concept out in Japan and the Netherlands soon. I really like the design. It's very practical. [h/t: DesignTaxi ]
