Tatyana Fazlalizadeh may look like any of the regular gals you hang out with. But unlike them, the Brooklyn-based artist is using her craft to make a statement about societal issues. Her work ranges from the gallery to the streets, using visual art to address racism, misogyny, misogynoir, homophobia and transphobia through beautifully drawn and painted pieces.
Tatyana's upcoming book, Stop Telling Women to Smile, highlights the gender-based persecution endured by so many people. "She addresses the pervasiveness of street harassment, its effects, and the kinds of activism that can serve to counter it. The result is a cathartic reckoning with the aggression women endure, and an examination of what equality truly entails."
Stop Telling Women to Smile hits stores February 4th but you can preorder it right now, here.
