Simply put, some people are natural born artists

I recently discovered the art of Kate Tova on Facebook and was immediately attracted to her constant and consistent feed of vibrant, large-scale multimedia portraits.

Totally self-taught, the Russia-born, San Francisco-based artist has earned numerous awards and recognitions from exhibitions in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, the United States, and other countries around the globe. Her paintings have appeared on the covers of foreign music records, been published in international magazines, and even inspired a jewelry collection.

Kate's the kind of woman every woman wants to be: Talented, successful, and deeply compassionate. Asked about her work, she had this to say, "My art is about capturing the unique essence of a subject. My recent works have been characterized by extravagant colors and effusive brushstrokes that externalize the internal beauty of my subjects. I have always been drawn to paint women, and this style has provided a vehicle to portray the power, dignity, and beauty of each individual."

Acorn-shaped meditation pod

Created by LFZ Studio , this giant acorn in France is a cool space to escape the digital deluge. For some, the wooden pod is a temporary escape from reality. For others, it’s a nice place to take a nap. And for a select few, it’s a nerve-wracking dive into claustrophobia. The pod blends perfectly with the forest and the gentle rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of birds create a natural soundtrack for meditation. In this sanctuary, time seems to slow down, allowing for a deeper connection with oneself and nature. |h/t: Design Boom |

It's Beautiful, But Also Could Explode

Ah, Taal Lake. Admirable, breathtaking, a perfect postcard of tranquility. And then you remember. Oh right, there's a volcano inside the lake, inside an island, inside another body of water. It's like an  Inception movie directed by mother nature, and frankly, I'm pretty sure she's just messing with us at this point.
