Faceless Figures


The details in Alex Gardner's work are enough to spark curiosity, but not sufficient to answer my questions. Who are these faceless people? What secrets do they hold?

The Long Beach-based artist draws inspiration from everyday people, 16th century European art, and films. His acrylic paintings on linen have an illusive feeling, but he insists that he is not a surrealist and he resists any categorization.
