Caitlin Hackett's Contemporary Mythology

Take a quick peek into the world of Caitlin Hackett and you'll be dazzled by all of the mystical creatures. Combining her love for cats, folklore, cryptids and Dungeons & Dragons, Caitlin was destined to become an artist.

"My passion for the natural world has inspired my art since I first put pencil to paper as a child," the Oakland-based artist said in a statement.

Her paintings and sketches are like dreams (or nightmares), and I could stare at them for hours.

"As I have grown I have combined my love for animals with my interest in both wildlife biology and mythology to create artwork that speaks to the current biological mythos that constructs the barrier between what is considered Human, and what is considered Animal," she added.

Aside from her website, you can also peruse Caitlin's work by visiting her Society6 shop.

The Adorable Sculptures of Yen Yen Lo

These images are from a series of wall sculptures created by Yen Yen Lo . Here you can see her intricately textured ceramic pieces, looking downright adorable. Yen Yen Lo's eye for the unique and whimsical is delightful. Apparently they are not intended for kids under 16. Fifteen-year-olds cannot be trusted with fragile stuff. Get them a Funko Pop instead.

In Eleanor We Trust

Eleanor Swordy clearly stands out from the pack. She has a unique ability to create visually stunning artworks while maintaining her favorite theme and color palette. There's also a dream like quality to each of her paintings, which encourage deep viewing. Whether it's the way her colors are blended or how the cartoonish characters interact with each another, Eleanor is exploding with imaginative energy on how to execute it.

Spray Paint Reflection

Through my random searches I came across the work of Taiwanese artist BlackZao, who blends graffiti and calligraphy with Eastern religious art. There are a lot of things that make his paintings exceptional but I really like the vibrant hues, lettering, and intricate illustrations. Aside from spray painting on walls and canvases, he also creates digital art, makes beautiful collages, and goes old school with acrylics and brushes. Check out his Facebook page for more.
