Living Small, Feeling Infinite

Everyone likes a house with light. We like fresh air. We like the sun. This is the simple choice of any sane person. And this house in Osaka proves you can live small without feeling small.

According to designboom, the site is only 45 square meters. It is narrow—just 2.73 meters wide. Yet inside, it feels anything but cramped. The architects skipped heavy walls and chose to build with transparency instead. A grid of full-height openings, framed in aluminum and glass, creates a rhythm of light and reflection. The result is a a home that breathes.

Sometimes, living beautifully just means letting the sun in.

Enigmatic Shapes and Psychedelic Patterns

To say that I love Sanagi 's work is an understatement. Looking at her art feels sort of therapeutic, and I find her drawings refreshingly intricate. They're trippy, psychedelic, and resemble something that you might see under a microscope. Not much is Googleable about Sanagi, but that's fine. There aren't many artists these days that still pull off the whole mysterious vibe, so I commend her for that. By the way... they're all hand-drawn with pen and ink.

Art doesn't just have to be colorful flowers, sunsets and unicorns – there is artistry in the grotesque as well. Jason Briggs , a Tennessee-based nightmare creator, makes surreal and fucked-up ceramic sculptures of the human body that exist on the boundary between horror and beauty.

Japanese artist En Iwamura creates adorable ceramic sculptures

Kyoto-born artist En Iwamura is showing his latest ceramic creations in a special show on August 31 at the Ross+Kramer Gallery in East Hampton, New York. En's sculpted objects, which he describes as three-dimensional clay doodling, exudes nothing but good vibes with their quirky, playful style. He consciously uses childhood influences such as manga and anime, and draws inspiration from both American and Japanese historical and pop-cultural references along with his own life experiences. Born in 1988, En completed both his BFA and MFA in craft from Kanazawa College of Art and Craft in 2011 and 2013, respectively. His works have been shown in New York City, Seattle, Kansas City, Durham, NC, Japan, Canada, China and more. Thanks for the tip, Rachel.
